French fashion house Christian Dior pushes opening date for first Perth store to early next year

WA will have to wait a little bit longer for French fashion house Christian Dior to throw open the doors of its first Perth store. Originally slated to open late this month, the Dior store in the Queens building will now open early next year. But Lease Equity managing director Jim Tsagalis, who brokered the Dior lease, gave his assurance the luxury brand had already completed all of its design work and were working through council approvals in respect to store fit-outs. “We’re quickly getting to the end of this year, which means trades, et cetera will get a bit more difficult,” Mr Tsagalis said. “But it’s certainly on-track for a quarter one 2025 opening. It’s not uncommon in the current building environment for things to push out three months, four months.” Set over two floors and at 850sqm, Mr Tsagalis reaffirmed the store would be the biggest luxury retailer in Perth. Dior — set to offer a full suite of offerings from fragrance to fashion and homewares — will be located opposite its sister companies in the LVMH group, Tiffany & Co, and Louis Vuitton. “It’s certainly going to have the greatest frontage of any of the luxury brands so that potentially will have quite a positive impact on the street-scape, you can imagine the visual merchandising that we can expect to see,” Mr Tsagalis said. With brands like Van Cleef & Arpels and TAG Heuer recently opening in the CBD, and Gucci relocating to bigger premises, Mr Tsagalis teased: “There is a number of (other luxury retailers) we are currently dealing with that we would expect to make announcements over the next three to four months.” The update on the Dior store comes after a new report by real estate group CBRE revealed the the country’s luxury retail market would stagnate this this but return to growth in 2025.
