Blak Deaths in Custody Part Three: Mr Ward
In 2008, Aboriginal elder Mr Ward dies after being “cooked” when he is left in a police van for four hours in temperatures up to 56C in the Goldfields region.
His death horrified the State, leading to a change of heart from most white Australians, including a man who was pivotal in the John Pat case.
In part three of Blak Deaths In Custody John Quigley, the police union lawyer during that trial, discusses the case which resulted in him switching sides to be an advocate for Mr Ward.
