Dunsborough favourite Lady Lola brings coastal charm to Eurocentric city wine bar
Coastal charm heads to the city on November 8 with the opening of Lola Underground, the CBD edition of popular Dunsborough wine and beach bar Lady Lola.
Business and life partners Michelle Forbes and Marinela Antonic opened Lady Lola three years ago.
The couple plan to bring their love of quality wine from France, Spain and Western Australia and Eurocentric dining to the former Pooles Temple space at the State Buildings.
Antonic says the couple hope to bring a little South West charm to the big smoke.
“We aim to create an oasis in the city,” she says. “A place where guests can unwind and enjoy exceptional wines in a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere.”
In addition to wines from small producers chosen to complement the existing offerings at the State Buildings, Lola Underground will serve the “stirred, not shaken” cocktails, including the Lola Martini, beloved by Dunsborough locals.
Chef Forbes, who will curate an evolving menu of European-inspired small plates, says the underground bar is the latest collaboration between the Lady Lola team and State Buildings.
Lola Underground is not a pop-up but an ongoing venue.
We aim to create an oasis in the city.
“Our admiration for the culture at the State Buildings grew with each collaboration,” she explains.
“We’re grateful to now be a part of it, sharing the Lola experience with our Perth audience.”
Antonic adds that city slickers are in for a treat, pointing out that “the Lola Martini just got three hours closer”.
Lola Underground will be open Thursday to Saturday from 4pm till late.
