Albany’s Jordan Clark has capped off a brilliant year for Fremantle by finishing in the top 10 of the club’s fairest and best count and polling four Brownlow Medal votes.

The 23-year-old half-back flanker enjoyed a career-best year for the Dockers, his line-breaking runs and penetrating foot skills earning him a place in the 44-man All-Australian squad for the first time in his career.

Clark has been prolific across half-back for the Dockers since being traded from Geelong at the end of 2021 and played his 100th game earlier this season.

While the Railways product’s dazzling offensive game is arguably one of the most destructive in the AFL, his defensive efforts often go under the radar.

The dashing defender averaged 24.7 disposals and 6.8 marks to finish equal sixth in the Doig Medal count on Wednesday, October 18, with 168 votes alongside goal sneak Sam Switkowski.

Star clearance player Caleb Serong won his second consecutive Doig Medal with 240 votes, pipping fellow midfielder Andrew Brayshaw by nine votes.

Silky left-footer Hayden Young was third with 200 votes and breakout key forward Josh Treacy finished fourth with 185 votes.

Clark, who went to high school at Guildford Grammar, polled all four of his Brownlow votes in rounds 11 and 12, when he had enormous games.

He gathered 35 disposals and took eight marks in the Dockers’ agonising round 11 draw with Collingwood, earning him two votes.

He then backed up that scintillating outing with a career-high 36 disposals, 15 marks and a goal in the Dockers’ demolition of Melbourne in Alice Springs to be awarded another two votes.
