Margaret River police are seeking witnesses and CCTV footage to help an investigation into an alleged bin rampage on August 4.

Numerous complaints emerged on social media after the incident at about 10.30pm in which a four-wheel drive smashed bins set out for collection, but Senior Constable Dave Gibbs urged residents to contact police.

“A vehicle deliberately drove into nine rubbish bins awaiting collection outside 96 Bussell Highway, Margaret River,” Snr Const. Gibbs said.

“The vehicle did a u-turn in the service station opposite before turning around to further target the bins.

“There were other reports from locations around town of similar incidents involving a light-coloured 4WD vehicle,” the officer said.

“The vehicle has been identified as a Mitsubishi Pajero NM model, year from 2000-2006, white or light coloured.”

Snr Const. Gibbs said the 4WD had sustained front-end damage perhaps related to the incident.
