Some of the region’s budding young musos will head from TAFE straight to The River hotel next Friday for a showcase gig that will only cost guests $5.

South Regional TAFE music students are getting ready for the show on September 4, turning theory into practice with up-and-coming artists taking to the stage.

Music lecturer Chris Archibald said the performers ranged from hip hop to rock, virtuoso guitar and electronica.

“I would encourage everyone in the community who has a passion for live music to come down and support these students,” he said. “They are extremely talented and have put in a lot of work and practice to make this happen, so come and see them before they get famous.”

Acts include Leeuwin Hyatt, Wilbur, Baylea Shae, Jiminy (Alberto the Shadow), Jarrad Eddy, Lou Cully, Sarah Rose, Groogies, Negative Appeal and Phase Lock.

The night will also see a collaboration with TAFE’s commercial cookery, hospitality and digital media students.

Campus manager Judith Reynolds said the event was “a wonderful example of how our students can work with the community to put on a unique, locally created experience”.

Tickets are $5 each. For more go to the South Regional TAFE Margaret River Facebook page.
