One of the new superstars of the region opened for a soiree last Wednesday night at Edwards Wines near Cowaramup.

Food sensation Miss Chow’s hosted about 150 members of the business, tourism and hospitality industries as part of a Margaret River Business Network sundowner.

With a tour and a taste test of the new eatery’s wares, attendees enjoyed a wine basics masterclass from the new Margaret River Wine Academy, helmed by longtime Capes region vigneron Leah Clearwater.

MRBN chief executive Annie McFie said the wine training was part of the Tourism WA-supported Margaret River Workforce Ready program.

She welcomed members having the first taste of the training, as well as the latest offerings from Miss Chow’s.

“We are incredibly proud of our vibrant business community and love bringing our members together to connect, share ideas and debrief,” she told the Times.

“It was a fabulous event and great to welcome Jacquie and her team to our network.”

Miss Chow’s owner Jacquie Chan said Margaret River had long held a special place in her heart, and the chance to extend her business into the region was too good to pass up.

“We saw an opportunity to offer something a little different: modern Asian food with a relaxed feel,” she said.

“Margaret River has amazing dining options, but we believe the blend of approachable Asian dishes with great local wines and a beautiful vineyard setting brings something new to the mix.”

The menu has been developed by executive chef Aldren Teo, who is also responsible for the food across all six of the group’s restaurants including Perth’s Lucy Luu, Lygon Lane, Lena’s Bar and Eatery, and new Fremantle hotspot Moon & Mary.

“Margaret River has always been on our radar,” Ms Chan said.

“It’s a stunning place with a strong food and wine culture that we’ve wanted to be part of for a long while.”

The new enterprise was also welcomed as a chance to partner with the Edwards family on their property, with the new restaurant touted as a “perfect marriage of modern amenity and rural charm”.
