The Margaret River Wine Association has welcomed news a major international digital platform has curated an extensive guide for consumers interested in wines from the region.

Online platform Wine Folly recently announced the news, cheered on by local aficionados who were briefed about the project last week.

MRWA chief executive Amanda Whiteland said the site’s Margaret River Region Guide potentially would be accessed by millions of online visitors each month.

“We are confident that beginners to wine experts will enjoy learning more about the Margaret River wine region with Wine Folly through their fun and playful approach to wine education,” she said.

Margaret River was the eighth region to be covered by Wine Folly, but the first of Australia’s wine regions.

The new feature was greatly enabled by the MRWA’s recent completion of a detailed media pack promoting the region.

Wine Folly chief executive David Gluzman said such information was keenly sought by wine lovers.

“This kind of access and exploration of a remote and high-class wine region is exactly the kind of unique education experience we’re striving to bring to wine learners,” he said.

“This guide is driven by the wine producers of the region and showcasing wines that might never enter the awareness of the North American market.”

Other regions included the Napa Valley, Bordeaux, Alto Adige and Sicily.
