One of the region’s leading experts on passive energy design is hosting a series of talks starting tomorrow, Saturday, October 5.

Supported by the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River, Willcox and Associations architect Timo Bleeker — a member of the Australian Passivhaus Association — will outline the steps residents can take to improve energy efficiency and cut greenhouse emissions when designing their own homes.

“We are intending to hold a series of presentations aiming to raise public awareness for achieving sustainable buildings that are energy efficient and at their optimised thermal performance by utilising the passivhaus principles,” Bleeker said.

The seminars were planned every two months, aiming to educate residents about the benefits as well as the achievability of sustainable living.

Some of the talks would also include site visits to see the principles in action, with Bleeker himself behind a number of the region’s most successful smart builds as well as tiny homes.

Two sessions will be held this weekend at The Bowie at 14 Jenkins Road in Cowaramup starting at 9am and 10.30am.
