Busselton Margaret River Junior Cricket Association’s under-16 B gold side won their division’s title to be the most successful of the association’s four teams competing at junior country week.

The BMRJCA recorded a resounding 111-run win over Upper Great Southern in the final on last Friday, defending their total of 8-223 by restricting their opponents to 8-112.

Oscar Nimmo (67 from 96 balls) and Reuben Castillo (63 from 82 balls) were the best of the batters in the decider and Toby Dunning (3-13 from 10 overs) was the pick of the bowlers.

The association’s under-16 A side won their third-place play-off against Wellington on the final day, with Jimmy Green (84 not out from 145 balls) and Jye Simpson (3-32 from nine overs) leading the way.

Both of the association’s under-14 sides had a good week, with the under-14 A side finishing fourth and the under-14 B black side third.

The BMRCA has a team in the top grade of senior country week, which starts on Sunday, to go with sides which will compete in D and E-sections.

The A-section team will be looking to maintain their place in the top grade after surviving a relegation play-off at last year’s tournament.
