Most people dread Monday mornings as the start to a woeful work week, but this couple from Perth’s south couldn’t wait for it to arrive after they hit the scratchie jackpot.

After purchasing a WA Gold Double ticket from Phoenix Lotteries, the Parmelia couple found the scratchie had turned into a $100,000 top prize.

The man in his 50s couldn’t wait for Lotterywest HQ to open on Monday to claim his big win following his exciting discovery on Saturday.

“On Saturday I woke up feeling funny and with itchy palms, so I decided to take this as a sign to go and treat myself to a scratchie ticket,” he said.

The couple plan to spend some of their winnings on a trip to Bali to bring in the new year in style.

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said the past year has brought 51 West Aussies the top prize in the Scratch’n’Win, bringing the total amount won to $5.2 million.

“In 2024, WA scratchies have raised $48.6 million for Lotterywest’s grants program which supports community groups across the State,” he said.

“Parmelia is not just home to our most recent $100,000 winner, but also an $85,000 Lotterywest grant to the City of Kwinana for a series of arts and family-friendly events between October and March 2025.”

West Aussies’ next chance to win large in Lotto is on Saturday with the $30 million Megadraw.
