A Mandurah man thought he had done something wrong when he was taken into the back room of his local newsagency, only to be discreetly told that he had just won a division one prize in the Saturday Lotto.

The man, in his 50s, had the surprise of a lifetime after receiving a curious message when he went to scan his Lotto ticket at Nextra Forum West Newsagency.

His fears soon turned into a celebration when the retailer told him he was the winner of a $518,364 prize.

“I went from thinking ‘oh no what have I done’ to absolute joy,” the man said.

“I never win anything, but this news now opens up so many doors.

“A new car, hey even a new haircut.”

The ticket was one of two division one wins from the weekend and was the second division one prize in the space of a week for the Mandurah newsagency.

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said 47 tickets from WA have matched the numbers to a division one prize this year, sharing in more than $63 million.

“Our retailers do a wonderful job making sure the privacy of players is the top priority when they come across a life-changing win,” he said.

“It’s also thanks to the efforts of WA players and retailers that Lotterywest can raise vital funds for the WA community.”

West Aussies can try their luck in tonight’s Oz Lotto draw with $3 million up for grabs.

Tickets are available until 6pm in store, online or via yhe Loyterywest app.
