Malaga fire: Firefighters control ‘vigorous’ rubbish fire in Perth’s northern suburbs

Firefighters have successfully controlled a “vigorous” rubbish fire in Perth’s northern suburbs.

The Fire of Department and Emergency Services rushed to Camboon Road, Malaga, about 3.40pm on Tuesday after receiving a triple-0 call about a blaze at a scrap metal recycling yard.

A DFES spokesperson said a pile of rubbish or recycling matter was “vigorously burning”.

The blaze was contained and control by about 7.30pm, with firefighters still on the scene mopping up.

DFES has asked people to stay away from the area.

A number of roads have been closed including Victoria Road between Camboon Road and Midas Road and Camboon Road between Midas Road and Victoria Road.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully.
