Section of Wellington Street closed as police work to arrest man who scaled roof

A street in the Perth CBD was shut as police tried to apprehend a man who scaled a roof in the area.

Wellington Street in the Perth CBD was closed both directions between Pier Street and Lord Street around 7pm.

WA Police said the road was closed as a result of officers working to negotiate with a man who had scaled a roof.

Main Roads WA urged drivers to seek an alternative route and exercise extreme caution as there was congestion in the area.

The road reopened around 8.20pm.
