South Australia has marked a horror Sunday on the roads, with two men dying in separate crashes.

The carnage started early Sunday morning about 3.45am, with police and emergency services called to Port Wakefield Highway at Waterloo Corner, north of Adelaide, on reports a car had crashed into a light pole and then a tree.

A 27-year-old man from Elizabeth North died in the crash, the police said, with Major Crash investigators shutting down the highway for a number of hours.

The man’s passing marked the 67 life lost on South Australia’s road in 2024.

Then later at Balhannah in the Adelaide Hills, a man on a motorcycle crashed at the intersection of Kerr Road and Beaumont Road about 1pm.

The 48-year-old man from Greenhill died at the scene, the police said, with his death marking the 68th life lost of the roads so far.
