A shindig to celebrate the Cowaramup District Social Club’s 70th birthday saw more than 400 take part in festivities and catch-up with old friends.

The birthday bash included music, children’s activities, fine foods, drinks and giveaways to keep the crowds entertained.

Attendees included a who’s who of past civic stalwarts and the numerous residents who have enjoyed the club being the centre for community activities since the not-for-profit was established in 1954.

Club president Billy Pascoe was thrilled by the turn-out.

“The Cowaramup club is a cherished institution spanning generations,” he said.

“We are and always will be a community club – and we wouldn’t be here today if not for the support of our members and the local community.

“It’s a relationship we truly appreciate.”

The Saturday gala also featured the official launch of a new line of limited-edition merchandise now for sale.

Inspired their farming heritage, the range consists of unisex t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies in multiple colours.

Organisers said some styles sold out in record time on the day.
