BSBL: Bulls Gold and Tornadoes Red to meet in top-of-the-table women’s clash

Bulls Gold will take on Tornadoes Red in a top-of-the-table Bunbury Senior Basketball League women’s clash at South West Sports Centre on Friday night. Gold lead all comers with a 4-1 win-loss record, ahead of Red who sit in second despite having played one game fewer than the rest of the competition. Red won out in the clash between the two sides earlier this season, handing Gold their only defeat of the season to date by six points in round two. But Bulls Gold moved into top spot on the ladder on Friday night with a six-point win over Conquerors who pushed them all the way to the final buzzer with Gold doing just enough to escape with a 72-66 victory. In the other upcoming fixture, third-placed Aces Sky will take on fifth-placed Conquerors. Sky will be looking to bounce back from a 23-point defeat to Tornadoes Black last week while the winless Conquerors will be looking to back up their best performance of the season, a hard-fought six-point loss to Bulls Gold last week, with another strong effort. A clash between reigning premiers Bulls Maroon and third-placed Tornadoes Red shapes as the pick of the men’s A-grade fixtures, with Maroon looking to right a shaky start to their season which has seen them win only two of their first five contests. First-placed Bulls Gold take on fifth-placed Aces Sky, second-placed Bulls Grey play ninth-placed Eaton Eagles and fourth-placed Tornadoes Black come up against seventh-placed Conquerors in the other men’s games. Last week, Bulls Grey claimed sole second-spot possession with a 30-point victory over Aces White. Grey stormed out to a 15-point lead at the first break courtesy of a scintillating 16-2 run to end the first term, but White were able to keep the game tight in the second quarter, clawing the deficit back to as few as four points. The winners again took control of the contest in the third term, taking a 25-point lead into the final interval after outscoring their opponents by 16 points in the quarter. This week, Tornadoes Black (women’s) and Aces White (men’s) have a bye.
