Perth Heat bounced back into form with an important 3-1 series win over Brisbane Bandits to leap back into an Australian Baseball League finals spot with four rounds to play.

After a heavy series loss to Canberra, the Heat secured a vital, run-laden victory in Brisbane to nudge their record up to 11-13

While they remain three games behind third-placed Canberra, they are only half a game further back of Sydney Blue Sox in first place.

The Heat set up their series win by prevailing in the first three games of the series, hitting 24 runs in the process — including an eye-watering 16 in game three.

They got off to a perfect start in game one with a 4-3 win over Brisbane in extra innings, courtesy of some late hitting to seal a come-from-behind victory.

Alex Hall and an Ulrich Bojarski homer had put Perth 2-0 up at the top of the fourth, only for Brennon McNair’s home run to tie up the game and Yi-Cheng Wang to put his side up further.

But with one out in the ninth, Angel Mateo was able to drive Hall in for a game-tying run, before Johnny Ascanio’s single in the 10th allowed Jake Bowey to score.

It was a case of deja vu all over again in game two as Perth again ran out 4-3 winners, and they once again came from behind.

After Jacob Robson and Jhon Diaz traded homers, Will Riley’s double gave Brisbane a 3-1 lead, but Perth turned the tables in the final two innings as Ulrich Bojarski cleared the fence before Byron Armstrong did the same with Tim Kennelly already on base.

Game three turned out to be a hit parade for the Heat, but remarkably they found themselves 2-0 down before Jess Williams and Diaz home runs gave Perth the lead at the top of the fourth.

The Heat then proceeded to smash five runs in the sixth, three runs in the eighth and another five in the ninth, with Carlos Colmenarez (five RBIs) and Enderson Delgado (four RBIs) doing most of the damage.

Brisbane earnt a consolation win in game four as they prevailed 7-1.
