Nottinghamshire have signed Australian all-rounder Fergus O'Neill for the opening 28 days of the domestic redball County Championship.

The 23-year-old was named Victoria's first-class player of the season for a breakthrough 2023-24, when he was also named Bradman young cricketer of the year at the Australian Cricket Awards.

This year, he already has 27 wickets from six matches in the Sheffield Shield and picked up match figures of 5-84 for Australia A versus India A.

"Hopefully I've got attributes with the ball which suit the conditions and, coming off the back of an Australian summer, I'll be heading into the Championship with games under my belt, which always helps," O'Neill said.

O'Neill will feature for Notts in four matches, three at Trent Bridge and one at another Test venue, Edgbaston.

Visa restrictions have limited the length of his contract.
