ANALYSIS
Josh Hazlewood’s calf strain is a cruel blow for the workhorse paceman but could it also be the beginning of the end for our greatest bowling quartet?
Jackson Barrett looks at what’s ahead for Australia’s attack.
Aaaaand we’re done.
Umpires end Pat Cummins’ over one ball early as bad light is called at the Gabba.
India avoid the follow on thanks to a stubborn unbeaten 39-run stand by Akash Deep (27 not out) and Jasprit Bumrah (10 not out).
The deficit is now below 200 and Australia will have to bat again with one day’s play remaining.
There are many questions for both sides to ponder: Do India declare, send the Australians in to bat and attempt to pinch an unlikely victory?
And even bigger questions for Australia - do they set up a chase for the vistors or use the day to give their bowlers some rest ahead of Boxing Day?
With Josh Hazlewood likely out for the rest of the series, with Tests in Melbourne and Sydney to come, Mitch Starc and Cummins have shouldered the load.
There are also question marks over Mitch Marsh, who has only bowled two overs despite the aforementioned calf injury to Hazlewood.
AND A SIX!
Follow on avoided and Akash Deep goes bang over deep mid wicket for six runs!
INDIA AVOID THE FOLLOW ON
India are estatic as Akash Deep hits a cut shot to third man and it runs over the rope for four of the sweetest runs.
Virat Kholi is celebrating, fans are celebrating, Sharma is relieved.
India are 9/252.
Four runs required

The umpires are looking at the light but are happy with what they see - for now.
Cummins is back into the attack.
Five runs to go
India run a two and then another two... and then sneak a single.
The visitors now need just five runs to avoid the follow on.
Cummins toiled away valliantly but that over goes for seven runs.
11 runs for India to get
Lyon, Starc and Cummins are rotating among each other as Australia’s sole bowling trio... and they can’t yet find this final wicket.
India need just 11 to avoid the follow-on...
India creeping closer
Will the tourists be able to take the follow-on call out of Australia’s hands?
They’re now just 14 away, with Bumrah on 8 and Akash on 9 - and helped by a Starc no-ball, too.
It’s 9-232 as Starc and Cummins continue to toil.
Aussies running thin
Of note for this innings: There’s been 69 overs, with Hazlewood only able to provide 6 due to injury.
Mitch Marsh has bowled just two, and Travis Head one in the fading light last night.
It’s left a significant workload for Starc - who turns 35 next month - and Lyon (37), as well as Cummins.
How much will that factor into any potential follow-on call?
India are 9-222, needing 24 to avoid the prospect of the Aussies making a decision.
GONE! Jadeja succumbs
Excellent work from Cummins again, and Jadeja has to go!
The Aussie skipper ties down Jadeja with the fourth and fifth balls of the over, and in his attempt to keep the strike, the Indian batter skies one to deep square.
Mitch Marsh continues his fine catching game with a nice take diving forward in the outfield, and an excellent Jadeja innings ends on 77.
It’s 9-214 and Akash Deep is at the crease. Cummins has been outstanding and now has 4-54.
