Daniel Ricciardo has secured himself a seat with Red Bull sister team AlphaTauri for the 2024 Formula One World Championship season.

In a statement released on Saturday the F1 team said West Aussie Ricciardo and Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda would be its two main drivers for the 2024 season.

“I’m stoked to be driving with Yuki again next year and continuing the journey with Scuderia AlphaTauri,” the West Aussie star said.

“Following the progress we have already made and the plans for the future, it’s an exciting time for the Team. We are building and it is a great feeling. There is a lot of work to do, but we are heading in the right direction and there is a lot to look forward to. Bring on 2024.”

Earlier this week AlphaTauri said they were in “no rush” to get the Aussie star back on track.

After returning to F1 after a sixth-month hiatus as a mid-season draftee for the Red Bull sister team Ricciardo lasted just two races before breaking his wrist after crashing in Friday Practice at the Dutch Grand Prix.

He required surgery with New Zealand young gun Liam Lawson, who has impressed in his three races including scoring his first championship points in Singapore, stepping into his place as Ricciardo watched on from the pits.
