It’s a move she couldn’t quite pull off at the Olympics but Australian breaker Rachel Gunn has executed a career backflip saying she is not retiring from the sport.

Raygun who shot to fame over her infamous Olympic debut which saw her score no points appeared to have retired last week due to the backlash and emotional toll over her performance.

“I still break, but I don’t compete. I’m not going to compete any more. No. No,” she said on Sydney’s 2DayFM last week.

“It’s been really upsetting. I just didn’t have any control over how people saw me or who I was.

“Yeah, I mean I still dance, and I still break. But, you know, that’s like in my living room with my partner.”

However, the 37-year-old now says those comments were taken out of context and she will still be actively competing in the breakdancing scene.

“I was talking on 2DayFm about how I’m not going to do certain competitions anymore – which didn’t seem like such a big deal because breaking is not going to be in the Olympics anyway,” she said on the Today show.

“But you know, I’m still going to be part of community jams … and still dance and still break. [I never used] the word retire, but, you know, it just caught on to the news cycle … I’m not retiring.”

“You try and stop me. I’m not ever going to stop dancing. So if you hear that again, you know that it’s not the truth.”

Her defiance comes after the World No.1 ranked female breaker was invited on stage to perform her iconic moves at Rod Laver Arena on Saturday as a surprise guest at Tones and I’s Melbourne show.

“Everybody, would you please give it up for an Australian icon, the most iconic break dancer there is, Raygun!” Tones and I said at the end of the song.

Gunn said it was a thrill to perform in front of thousands of fans.

“What an amazing experience! Thank you Tones and I for inviting onto your stage. So much love,” she wrote.
