VideoWe begin in Paris where Australia's athletes are being urged to be on their guard when outside the Olympic village following a sickening attack on a 25-year-old Australian tourist.

The AOC has issued a warning to athletes, telling them not to leave the Olympic Village in uniform.

Speaking to media on Tuesday evening, Australian Olympic Chef de Mission Anna Meares said athletes should wear plain clothes.

“The information we are passing on to our athletes is that security presence is really, really high.

“That is in order for them to be able to act as quickly as possible and to keep them safe.

“We don’t yet have any feedback from our notes that they have felt unsafe.

“We are encouraging them if they go out of the Village to not go out on their own and not wear a team uniform.

Olympic organisers are trying to do all they can to keep athletes and tourists safe. However, security alerts continue to put the safety of the Games in question.

The announcement from AOC officials comes a day after news broke of a horrific incident involving a young Australian allegedly being sexually assaulted in Paris.

A major police investigation is reportedly underway into the alleged crime that occurred in the party district of the French capital early on Saturday morning.

French media, including Le Journal du Dimanche, reported the alleged victim sought refuge in a kebab shop located on the Boulevard de Clinchy in the city’s 18th arrondissement following the incident.

Paramedics later transferred the 25-year-old woman to Bichat Hospital.

Harrowing security footage from inside a Paris kebab shop has now been released, showing the moments after an Australian woman was allegedly gang raped.
