For food and wine tourers, Georgia may be a surprise, and a holy grail.

There’s fresh, cultural food, close to its source.

There are wines that taste like those from nowhere else — there has been winemaking in Georgia for 7000 years.

And it is easy to get there, and safe to travel in.

WHO

Food and wine tourers. Tasters looking not only to go to the roots of winemaking, but flavours they won’t find anywhere else. Small group joiners looking for somewhere new, remarkable places, big landscapes and an authentic welcome.

WHAT

It’s easier to tour in small groups as Georgians speak Russian and there’s not that much English spoken, though Tbilisi is pretty navigable.

WHERE

Georgia is in the Caucasus, between Russia to the north, Turkey and Armenia to the south, and Azerbaijan to the east. It’s easy to get to — for example, by flying direct on one of the 14 flights a week from Dubai to Tbilisi with Fly Dubai. It takes 3 hours, 20 minutes.

WHEN

Summer can be hot, winter freezing cold — so just outside these seasons is best. May, June and September. The capital, Tbilisi, can be humid and hot in summer.
